The Timberwolves survived a 59-57 loss in the opening round of sub-district play to Dorchester and earned the second wild card to the state tournament as they draw Sandhills/Thedford on the first round. Senior Sydney Hall lead a balance E-M attack that has five players scoring at least 6.3 points per game with a 10.5 points per game average. This is the first trip to Lincoln for the Timberwolves since 2012 and they will look for their first win since 2006 when they defeated Franklin in the first round.

The Coyotes make their first appearance in Lincoln since 1990. That year ended with a loss in the finals that snapped a 40 game win streak, and included the 1989 championship. Coach Jeff Einspahr likes the balance his team has on offense, and enjoys the excitement the season has brought to the school.
