7-0. Still perfect. But, constantly trying to get better.
It’s been seven very short weeks since we played our first game. It has been an incredible run so far and I can’t believe it is already Senior Night at Foster Field this week. And we play a very good Creighton Prep team. How much better can it get?
I have never had so much fun playing football. We have a bunch of seniors this year and it’s a blast playing with all of my friends and winning while we are at it. As a senior, you start to appreciate all of the little things that sucked when you were an underclassman. The sprints, the everyday drills, all sorts of things seem to be more enjoyable now that it’s ending.
Senior Night may not be the last time we play at Foster Field. We have a pretty good chance of playing a home game in the playoffs, but to be recognized and play for our 2018 class at Kearney High is very important to all of us seniors. I know we’re not ready for it to be over.
We have a lot of work left to do.
Last, to all the future seniors at Kearney High:
Do not take any of it for granted. Playing high school football is special and it’s the last time most of you will get to play. Also, enjoy everything. Two-a-days, film, practice, game days, all of it. The memories you make are some of the best times you’ll have in high school. Like I’ve said before, there’s nothing better than being a Bearcat, so play together, win some games, and leave it all out there. And last, but definitely not least, WOGI.
Catch us at Foster Field at 7 p.m. on Friday against Creighton Prep.
