A Class B, District 6 rivalry is our feature game-of-the-week as York (4-2) travels to Grand Island Northwest (3-3) to open district play. District 6 is one of just two districts in Class B where all four teams have a .500 record or better. In other district action, Aurora (4-2) will travel to eighth-ranked Seward (5-1).
The Dukes, who played in the Class B state finals last year, are coming off a 42-7 win over Lexington last week. York has battled injury all season and lost their two contests by a total of five points — 21-20 to Norris in the first week of the season and 14-10 to Pius in week three. York has won two straight since the loss to the Thunderbolts.
Northwest continues to knock on the door of a big win as they come in to the game with a .500 record. The Vikings have lost the past two weeks to No. 10 Scottsbluff (45-40) and No. 8 Sidney (32-31). Running back Ty Johnson has been a workhorse for the Vikings who ran 41 times for 157 yards last week against the Red Raiders. Quarterback Christian Ellsworth threw for 225 yards and a touchdown and had three scores on the ground while adding 81 yards rushing.
