As heard on Prep Huddle Live, here are the “Striv 5” games to check out on the gridiron this Friday night! All kickoff times are 7:00pm Central, unless otherwise noted.
1. Class B, No. 1 Omaha Skutt (2-0) at Crete (1-1): The defending champion Skyhawks make their only trip west of Lincoln in the regular season for a matchup with the Cardinals. Skutt has looked the part through two games, while the Cardinals come off their first win of the Reed Mandstedt era last week with a 23-15 win over Seward. Watch: Crete Striv Channel
2. Class A, No. 7 Creighton Prep (1-1) at No. 5 Omaha Central (2-0): Prep, who advanced to the Class A final last year, is coming off a 41-0 loss to Omaha Westside last week. Central opened up a quiet 2-0 and they have done it with defense in a 14-7 win over North Star and a 16-14 win over Papillion-Lavista. Watch: Omaha Central Striv Channel
3. Class C-2, No. 1 Hastings St Cecilia at Fillmore Central (2-0): Two playoff teams from a season ago do battle in Geneva as the Bluehawks have ascended to the top of the rankings. Watch: Fillmore Central Striv Channel
4. Class D-1, No. 9 Blue HIll (0-1) at High Plains (0-1): Both teams lost to top-five teams in their openers. The Bobcats were defeated by BDS 38-21 and High Plains was all over top-ranked West Point Guardian Angels Central Catholic heading into the fourth quarter before falling 34-30. 5. Class B, No. 7 Scottsbluff (2-0) at No. 5 McCook (2-0): Western Nebraska’s new rivalry is this one. The Bearcats have yet to be scored on this season in racking up a pair of wins against Lexington and Hastings. McCook is off to a quick start as well, having outscored opponents 66-28 in their first two game. Watch: McCook Striv Channel
