YORK — A balanced attack that featured six players in double figures did the trick for the boys Orange team in a 107-94 victory over the Blue team in the 2nd Annual Striv All-Star Classic presented by Cornerstone Bank on Saturday night at York High School.
Leading 28-27 after the first quarter, the Orange team out scored the Blues 50-36 over the middle two periods to take control. Riverside graduate and Nebraska Wesleyan recruit Tanner Hudson led the way for the Orange team with 17 points.
Sam Johnson (High Plains) had 15, Brayden Obermeier (Centennial) added 14, Bennett Nelson (Osceola) and Lane Hegemann (Madison) each had 13, while Mitch Faris (Johnson County Central) had 11 for the victors.
For the Blue team, Wood River’s Nate Bahe had a team-high and game record 25 points in the loss. Scott Ketteler of Boone Central/Newman Grove added 13.
In the girls contest, York grad Emma Grenfell made the most of her final game at home. The Hastings College recruit scored 18 points — including 12 in the second half — as the Blue team held off the Orange 73-67.
Friend’s Lexie Ryan added 16 for the winners, FayLee Sanford (Dundy County-Stratton) scored 14 points and Freeman’s Emily Lenners had 10.
Macy Stewart of Shelby-Rising City scored 12 points to lead the Orange team, while Nebraska Christian’s Whitney Heuermann added 11.
