Nine golfers from Striv schools earned medals at the 2014 Girls State Golf Tournament that concluded on Tuesday at three sites across the state.

In Class A at Norfolk Country Club, Omaha Central senior finished her high school career with a two-day total of 180 for an 8th place medal. Omaha Burke’s Nia Station was the individual champion and Elkhorn South took the team championship.

At Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln, Grand Island Northwest finished fifth in the team race, Aurora was seventh and Crete was 10th. Scottsbluff won the team title with a 752 total and the Bearcats’ Jordan York was the individual medalist with a 159 total. Kacee Samway (McCook) and Murphy Sears (Crete) tied for 11th, while Megan Canfield (Northwest, 14th) and Kristin Bell (Aurora, 15th) also earned medals.

In Class C at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, Doniphan-Trumbull’s Brandi Lemek had the low round of the day with an 82 and she finished second. Boone Central’s Melissa Kyncl and Heartland’s Paige Mestl were fourth and fifth, respectively. Dundy County-Stratton’s Rebecca Lorens also earned a medal as she tied for 14th. The Tigers were seventh in the team race and Cozad one shot behind in eighth place with an 858 total. Minden won the team race with a two-day total of 750.
